Remember the Innocents is a humanitarian initiative for children established in memory of the innocent children slaughtered 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem. The ancient foretold of a king that will someday establish a reign of peace and justice. When the Wise Men (the Magi) came from the East to honor this new king, King Herod was fearful. He feared that such a king would put an end to his own reign of terror and ordered the deaths of all male children less than two years of age, thus hoping to eliminate the King of Peace.
Remember the Innocents seeks to raise worldwide awareness on how the suffering of the innocent children continues today on a scale far worse than in ancient times. Nowhere is this more true than in the Middle East. UNICEF reported that more than 7,000 children under the age of five were dying each month due to malnutrition (May 1999).
Through a variety of local and international programs, events, awareness campaigns and activities, and through working with other concerned organizations, Remember the Innocents hopes to bring the suffering of children to light and bring new hope and aid to children everywhere.
